Well, we made it. Almost to that holiday break. The curriculum will lighten up a bit this week, since I don't want to start any new units (especially in math) until we return from the break. Homework, this week, will be extremely light. Enjoy.
The fourth graders have finished Chapter 8 of the math book. Multidigit multiplication is an important skill. Those who received an A or a B will be given extension and challenge work this week. Those who scored lower, will practice with me on Monday and Tuesday and then retake the test on Wednesday. Fifth grade will finish up Chapter 6 this week in math and take their test on Wednesday. There is no reading journal this week, the students will complete reading activities in class as well as catch up on writing. There is no spelling or wordly wise thi The students in Room 24 are at all times working on indpendent projects we call "Tic-Tac-Toe's". This week we will have time to catch up on our various projects and share them witht he class. These products are differentiated in the areas of subject, thinking skill, resources, and products. Students get to design their own. What I really look for in the projects is how well the students meet the objectives and self-challenge. These are not currently graded, but shared, discussed, and self evaluated. Our class Winter Party will be on Thursday. I know we all look forward to that. Have a great week. Mrs. McElroy That was a very busy week, last week. Lots of great work from the kids. This week will continue much the same.
The fifths will continue with Chapter 6 in their math book with a test scheduled for next Thursday the 16th. The fourths will continuye with Chapter 8 in math and have their test scheduled for this Friday, the 10th. In writing the fourths will finish up their narratives (not on my access) and then continue writing on My Access. The fifths will be writng a persuasive essay, something specific to their grade level. This particular writing, will be done in class and not on My Access. The fourth graders will continue reading the story "A Very Important Day" and will complete a frame this week in class, while the fifth graders do the same thing with "Mae Jameson". The fifths will also finish up Lesson 8 of their Wordly Wise and take that test on Friday. Also, for fifths, in Science, they have finished their group posters and will share them on Monday. Tuesday they will prepare for the test which I plan to give on Wednesday. That's it. The kids are working very hard. I am really impressed with how well they are working to keep track of their assignments and get them all in. Wonderful. Organization is a skill that takes time to develop. I can see how hard they are working and I am very proud of them. The SpellingCity list u |
