Parents,
We have a busy week ahead, as always. It is a "short" week. Remember, on Monday and Tuesday, all the students at North Park get out at 2:00. Also, Wednesday and Friday are minimum days, 12:20 dissmissal, and there is not school on Thursday.
Also, the rough draft of their speeches are due on Tuesday. I will not assign spelling, or wordly wise homework this week. Also, there will be no differentiated reading homework for either grade level. The only homework will be math. Next week the fifth graders give their speeches on Monday, March 7th. The Toastmasters assembly will be held on Thursday of that week. The fourth graders will give their speeches on Monday, March 14th, and their assembly will be on Thursday of that week.
This coming Tuesday, March 1, the fourth graders will take the STAR writing test. They have been writing all year and are ready for the test. They will take the test in fourth grade classrooms that morning. Have them well fed and on time that day.
Also, the fourth graders have a math test on that day as well, on Chapter 11, Geometry. They are doing great on that chapter. Reviewing the information on line is always a good idea. The next chapter, 12, will work with Algebra and Graphing. We will start that on Wednesday.
We are a project based class and the kids have been working very hard on various projects. Both grade levels are working on reading projects continually. The fifths completed a "Geo Town" project, and will soon be starting a Million Dollar Project. The fourths have recently completed a "Geo Toy" project. These projects are in the class and waiting for "Open House".
Field Trips - The week of March 7th has two field trips. The fourth graders go to the Science Museum on Tuesday the 8th, and the fifth graders go to the Griffith Observatory on Friday the 11th. I will not have any need of volunteers for either trip. Parents who have children with medical requirements have been notified. Remember, for each field trip I am only sending 1/2 a class and am not allowed much room for volunteers since I will be joining both groups.
The grade level not going on a field trip will spend their day
I think that's it. Have a great week everyone.
