Parents,
Last week was a fun week. I enjoyed talking to all of you about your children. The students are doing great. The field trip was great fun. The Water Agency is a beautiful place. The students built, inspected, and operated a model of the plant. Very fun.
Some exciting things are going on this week. Library will start for the first time. We will go to the library on Mondays from 11:15 - 11:45. The room will go together, 4th and 5th. In case you're wondering, P.E. begins after the fall break. Students will be separated for that. Fourth grade with fourth grade students and fifth grade with fifth grade students.
Fourth grade parents, we did not have a chance to give the fourth grade test this past Friday. There will be no new list this week. The last list was pretty tough anyway. We'll test the "-ir, -im, -in" list this week on Friday.
The fifth graders are currently working on Chapter 3 of their math book. They are working on place value for large numbers and decimal numbers. They will do some estimation this week and then adding and subtracting. Their test is on Friday. If your child will not be in school that day, please let me know and I'll arrange the test early. I'd rather not wait until after the break.
The fourth graders are on Chapter 4 of their math book. They are working with line plots, bar graphs, and finding the mode median and outliers of a set of data. I will not give the fourth graders the chapter test for this chapter. Instead, I will break it up into two parts, a quiz on Lessons 4.1 to 4.5, on Friday, and a quiz on the rest of the chapter in October.
The fifth grade students are going to do one full lesson in Wordly Wise this week. They will do Lesson 4 and take the test on Friday as well.
The fifth graders will have auditions for the play on Monday afternoon, possibly Tuesday, if more time is needed. Also, a quick reminder to all of you that Thursday is a minimum day.
Take care and have a good week everyone!
