Well, it was a great first week of school. The students are wonderful. I have had a great time getting to know them and look forward to the year.
Last week, we began Physical Education, created graphs that describe our learning styles, and wrote goals for the year.
This next week will be full. Rotations will not begin until the week of the 26th. But, I will be reviewing multidigit multiplication and long division this week for math instruction. For reading we are analyzing "Yertle the Turtle". We will be using tools of differentiation (icons, thinking skills) to pull as much information about the story as possible. The kids are doing great they are very creative thinkers.
I loved hearing about their writing journals! They were awesome.
Also this week, I will be giving the students beginning of the year assessments. There will be an assessment in math on Monday, Reading on Tuesday, and Writing on Wednesday.
Well, those are the basics. I hope all the students had a good time and look forward to the year as I do.
