Parents and Students,
I hope everyone had a nice weekend. I had a lovely time. Nice family visits for the little boy's birthday.
But, even though it's a short week, it is a full one. Groups are in full swing and all curricular areas are being worked on. Remember, we have P.E. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, so wear good shoes. Also, on Thursdays and Fridays, please bring a towel in so we can practice sit ups and push ups.
Some standards being taught this week are:
Speaking and Listening: Engage effectively on fifth grade topics as a class discussion, one on one, and in groups.
Writing - Use transitional words and phrases to aid in sequencing. We will begin Narrative writing.
My Reading Students: Identify and use adverbs in sentences and Identify problems in stories. Also, we will study our vocabulary words and take a test on Red Kayak on Friday. Everyday in Reading we practice fluency by repeated reading.
My Math Students: Write products using exponents. Write powers as products of the same factors. Write the prime factorization of a number using exponents. Find the value of an expression using the Order of Operations, and Evaluate algebraic expressions. (Tricky stuff).
Every moment of every day is pretty packed. Always do your best to have your kids dressed, fed, and ready each morning.
Have a great res
